Scariest thing I ran into working in the bush was Moose with calves.. this guy needs to get out of his clips and stay down.

my opinion: snap-in clips are dumb for every day riding. i’ve gone out with a buddy who eats shit trail riding on a regular basis cuz he can’t get out of the clips fast enough. it is usually basic stuff that causes him to go down, but he just cant get his foot down. Sure, use them on race day, but save yourself some cuts and cruses or moose trampling and leave the clips at home.

Doesn’t that moose know cyclists have just as much right to be there?!

Moose scare the shit out of me, but sometimes they walk right through your camp just to get a drink of water. (I was quite a distance away and had a boat between me and them when I took this picture)

Should have heeded the sign at the trail head:

For offroad riding, I agree, but I loved my clipless pedals for around town and MUP’s... At least until the bike they were attached to got stolen.
Though forgetting to unclip and falling over at an intersection WILL happen at least once.

there was one time my buddy went down hard cuz he hit a wet trail rail that was flush with the pavement. his wheel just caught it and slid along the side. If he could have just put his foot down he could have saved himself, instead he bellyflopped on the road.

Clips are fine, I’ve been ridding them for... 25 years or so. Once you are used to them it’s second nature. But I don’t crash often, when I do it’s not because I couldn’t get a foot out of a pedal.

thats true, however, with his win/lose record he would not be making it to the playoffs.

For sure not the smartest animal in the bush.. Having them run on the road infront of you in the winter is frustrating; you don’t want to exert them for no reason, but they are too dumb to get off the road.
But dang, if they put their ears back you’d better pay attention;

Yep, leave them alone even if they show up in your backyard and are eating your dogwoods.

I remember doing silvi-surveys and having a young bull walk through the block 10 feet away.
They were always way less skittish than deer when you do run into them. But not as dumb/curious as caribou.
